Starbucks Marshmallow Dream Bar
Starbucks really needs to be more consistent with their gluten-free offerings.
I walked into Starbucks months ago when they first debuted their new La Boulangerie products and saw that they also offered a gluten-free Marshmallow Dream Bar, which is just like a Rice Krispie Treat. It was individually packaged, which I appreciated since there would be no chance of cross-contamination. I bought one and subsequently have bought many more since they are actually really good and way better than Rice Krispie Treats in my opinion.
I took it for granted that they would always have this option available and they still do, but it's a little different now. The default is they are unwrapped and often just in the display case with the other bakery goods. I asked if they still have them in wrappers and they do, but the employees are encouraged to not offer them with the wrapper on because the plastic wrap is no longer branded, it's just a plain clear plastic wrap very similar to the original packaging but zero branding/ingredient info.
I'm not sure why they decided to change the packaging, but it seems like yet another slight for the gluten-free community. I'm still annoyed they discontinued the Valencia Orange Muffins from way back when.
Starbucks should really consider widely advertising their gluten-free options now, especially with the term being so commonplace now.
*UPDATE: The packaging seen in the photo is BACK, but with a slight update, it now says "delicious and gluten-free" and has a label that it has been certified gluten-free. Win!
