Wow Baking Company - Chocolate Chip Cookies

The one thing that people always say to me when they find out I don't eat gluten is "OMG, is it hard to not eat wheat?  Do you miss it?" and my answer is always yes and no.  When you first embark on gluten-freedom, it can be terrifying and mystifying at the same time.  So many foods have hidden wheat/gluten, like soy sauce, etc. After a while, it becomes second nature, and with so many gluten-free products nowadays, I really don't miss wheat very often.  Especially when I find amazing products like Wow's chocolate chip cookies. I had never heard about Wow Baking Company before seeing a box of their brownie bites at Whole Foods a couple of months ago.  I bought them because they looked good and I was floored, after tasting them, by how GOOD they actually were.  They are everything you'd expect from a regular brownie, but gluten-free.  I'm talking rich dark chocolate flavor, soft texture and scrumptiously moist.  I must have gained a few pounds after devouring that box of brownies over the course of a week.

I came across their products again at Whole Foods today, but sadly, no brownie bites.  What I did find was an incredible assortment of their cookies (Snickerdoodle, Molasses, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip).  I have tried A LOT of gluten-free cookies and I do have my favorites, the most notable of which are Whole Foods brand gluten-free chocolate chip cookies.  They were the only ones I have tried to date, that are soft and resemble the taste and texture of a regular cookie...until now.  I bought a box of the Wow chocolate chip cookies expecting them to be hard and crumbly like other gluten-free cookies, but boy was I wrong. I opened the package and as soon as I touched them I knew I was in for a really tasty cookie.  They are soft and chewy, and these are pre-packaged cookies!  I couldn't believe it.  I ate one and it was over, I seriously exclaimed "OMG these are amazing!" and gave one to the hubby to try (my litmus test for gluten-free comparisons), and even he was impressed.  They taste just like a freshly baked glutened cookie - think brown sugar/vanilla/buttery goodness.  I got a little too excited and ate 4 of them (they are bite-size), and promptly felt ill from the decadence, but it was so worth it.

Whoever named the company Wow had it right.  If their other cookies are this good, they will become a permanent staple in my home...along side their brownies of course!
