I feel like I'm hearing about more and more people with Celiac disease nowadays. Not just friends and family, but people in the public eye. Elisabeth Hasselbeck really brought it to the forefront, but lots of others like Zooey Deschanel have it too. I guess it really shouldn't be that surprising considering 1 in 133 people have Celiac disease. Many of those people won't ever know they have it though because they are either asymptomatic or misdiagnosed. Like Jennifer Esposito, who was recently diagnosed with Celiac disease and just started a line of gluten free baked goods and mixes.
Her website is still under development but you can order bread, cookies, cupcakes, donuts and even pancake mix by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. I haven't tried her stuff myself, but it will be interesting to how her products stack up against the already considerable, and very tasty gluten free baked goods industry that is thriving, not to mention the many places in New York city to get fresh baked (and delicious) treats like Risotteria, Tulu's Bakery, Babycakes and Le Petit Café. What do you think about celebs promoting gluten freedom?
