Julie's Organic Ice Cream Sandwiches

I can't even remember the last time I had an ice cream sandwich.  I have fond memories of Flying Saucers from Carvel, but I barely remember what they taste like.  I find myself pining after the standard ice cream sandwiches you can buy at the store and used to always look to see if Tofutti or someone decided to make a gluten free version, but I gave up after a while.  Apparently gluten free ice cream sandwiches were not in the cards for us Celiacs - until now.

During a recent trip to Whole Foods I really wanted something sweet so I was checking out the ice cream aisle, but didn't really want a bowl of ice cream.  I turned to leave when my hubby called me over and said "I think you're going to like this honey."  I thought maybe he was referring to Luna & Larry's Coconut Bliss ice creams, which I'm glad Whole Foods is now carrying, but no - he pointed out a container of gluten free ice cream sandwiches from Julie's Organic!  Amazing. I snapped up a container and didn't really care how much they were, but I think it was around $8.  The sandwiches come individually wrapped and are about the width of a Starbucks gf Valencia Orange cake.  My hubby was intrigued so he tried one and we both concluded that they are really tasty.  The cookie is soft, but not off putting and has a nice chocolate taste that is almost reminiscent of an Oreo.  The ice cream is vanilla and pretty standard, but goes nicely with the cookie.  Overall this is a solid offering and a nice alternative the bowl or even cones of ice cream I was eating previously.  Definitely give it a try and let me know what you think!
