Erewhon Crispy Brown Rice With Mixed Berries

It's been a long time since I've been able to enjoy a cereal that has dried fruit in it.  I'm a big fan of freeze dried fruit in cereal and have always wondered why more gluten free cereals don't use fruit.

I found out about Erewhon's Mixed Berry cereal when I was visiting my mom one day.  She had a box of it sitting out so I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised.  Usually gluten free cereals are pretty bland and tasteless, but this one actually tastes really good.  The brown rice flavor is tempered by the subtle touch of honey and of course the large pieces of freeze dried fruit.

In case you were wondering, they don't skimp on fruit like some cereals do.  In one bowl you'll get a nice amount of bluberries and some strawberries.  The raspberries are few and far between, but I'll forgive that.

Erewhon is a brand under the U.S. Mills umbrella, which is interesting to me because U.S. Mills also owns Farina, which I LOVED when I was eating wheat.

Overall the Crispy Brown Rice with Mixed Berries cereal is really good.  I buy two boxes of it every time I stop by my local health food store.  It's replaced the space on top of my fridge that used to be occupied by Honey'd Flakes and that's saying a lot! Rating: **** ( Very Good)
