I have a love/hate relationship with brunch. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love to chow down on a great brunch, but not being able to eat gluten makes it a bit harder for me to find places that suit my diet. I plan on opening up my own gluten free restaurant someday, but until then I'm keeping an eye out for great places to get brunch.
When I moved to Jersey City a month ago I noticed a cute restaurant called Marco & Pepe. I checked out their menu and decided to stop in for brunch one Sunday. I'm really glad I did because they have a really tasty brunch menu. If I was a gluten eater I'd be alllll over it. Fortunately they had a few non-gluten items, one of which was scrambled eggs with chorizo. I have a Pavlovian response to pork (it probably has something to do with being Puerto Rican), so naturally I ordered the chorizo dish and boy was I happy when it came out. A substantial piece of chorizo was sliced lengthwise on top of my fluffy eggs (pictured above). Coupled with my mimosa, it was the perfect brunch for a lazy Sunday morning.
My husband (flour power and all) went for the eggs in a hole served on top of a vegetable assortment. He enjoyed his dish and overall we gave Marco & Pepe a big thumbs up for their brunch. I've been there a few times for dinner since, but I'll post about that another time when I have photos to share. :) *mB
